Newcastle Fringe Festival

The Newcastle Fringe Festival is a smorgasbord for the senses, showcasing mysterious and sensual visual delights, side-splitting humour and amazing magical triumphs. It presents a wide variety of entertainment including music, comedy, theatre, dance, children’s theatre, cabaret, burlesque, circus and performance art – literally something for everyone!

The 2022 Newcastle Fringe Festival was the biggest and most successful yet, boasting more than 130 shows, with almost 150 artists performing in ten venues across eight days and two weekends, and really put the Newcastle Festival on the entertainment map.

As a member of World Fringe, the global alliance of fringe festivals, the Newcastle Fringe Festival has grown to be one of Newcastle’s premier cultural events and gives our own amazing, local and emerging artists a chance to perform alongside incredible acts and artists from all around the world.

Newcastle Fringe Festival has been running since 2016 and Port Waratah have proudly been a major sponsor since 2017, helping to grow the Festival into what it is today and what we’ll see tomorrow.

Board Member of Newcastle Fringe Festival Incorporated, Liane Morris said without the support of corporate sponsors such as Port Waratah, the Festival could not survive.

“The Festival brings a high calibre of artists from Australia and around the globe together for the people of Newcastle and its surrounds, to enjoy a taste of something different, something edgy and to be inspired/awed by these amazing performers and their craft. It really puts a spotlight on Newcastle as a diverse cultural and entertainment destination.”
